Small intestine

The small intestine is the part of the human digestive system located between the stomach and the large intestine (colon). It consists of a fixed segment, the duodenum, followed by two mobile intraperitoneal segments, the jejunum and then the ileum, with the latter segment being responsible for the absorption of vitamin B12.
